Late last year I had the chance to travel to Cebu, one of the popular tourist spots here in the Philippines. The city has been booming with visitors, foreign and local alike due to the different attractions that it offers. Here are some of the places that I visited in Cebu that you may add to your travel bucket list.
Oslob is popular due to Whaleshark watching, which may be a positive or negative thing due to the activity might disturb the natural habitat for these whalesharks. However, the local government ensures that all tourists are required to attend to a brief orientation on what to do before doing the activity as any violators will be penalized.
Kawasan Falls is popular due to the Canyoneering activities being done here. If you are the adventurous type, this one is for you. At the time of our trip this activity has just resumed due to the re-training of all tour guides to ensure safety of all tourists as the activity has had some accidents last year. Due to my fear of water and heights, I was not able to join my officemates but while waiting for them to finish, I was able to wander to its majestic beauty.
This is the highest peak in Cebu. This can be trekked for 15-20 minutes by riding a habal-habal (motorcycle) or by 4 x 4, L200 vehicle and then you can walk up to the top. I must say that the view is amazing.
Sirao Flower Farm
Called the Little Amsterdam of Cebu, this place has the most beautiful flowers that I have ever seen.
Temple of Leah
Temple of Leah is a Greek-inspired new attraction in Cebu. At the time that we visited, there are some areas that were still under construction. The temple was made as a symbol of love to Leah Villa Albino-Adarna by Teodorico Adarna, the grandparent of actress Ellen Adarna. The place is breathtaking on its own.
Fort San Pedro
The oldest Fort in the Philippines that was built during the Spanish Occupation. If you are a history enthusiast, this place is a must visit.
This list is just a personal recommendation. There are more places in Cebu that I have yet to visit and I vow to come back again soon.
